Life Legacy

Lyle Ray Pongah, 69, of Tacoma, Washington passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho.

He was born September 28, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho to Dietz Pongah Sr. and Florine Theresa Marsh.

He had lived in the Fort Hall area where he received his education and was currently living in Tacoma, WA.

In May 1966, he married Virginia Decker and they were later divorced in June 1980. He then married Sandra Barrus and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2012.

Lyle worked as a heavy equipment operator for J.R. Simplot. He also worked as a mechanic for GSA Motor Pool and the Sho-Ban Tribe until he moved to Washington in 1982.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, working on cars and leather work.

He is survived by his son, Freddy (Mindy Ball) of Fort Hall, Idaho, step-son, Matt Baker of Oregon; daughter, Rossette (Tom Pebeahsy) of Fort Hall, Idaho and step-daughter, Marki Allen of Tacoma, Washington; sisters, Leona Jim and Lorena Pongah both of Fort Hall, Idaho; grandchildren, Brittenie, Budd, Kristen Pongah, Gay, R. J. Tate, Jennifer Pebeahsy, Randy Iron Clouds; step-grandchildren, Jonathan, J.D. Pongah, Mariah, Cooper, Liam Baker and five Iron Cloud great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lyle Jr., daughter, Melody Faith, brothers, Steven, Elwin and Dietz Jr. and sister, Theora Galloway.

A prayer service will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave.

Lyle will then be taken to the family home on Buckskin and Frasure Road from 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 until time of burial service on Friday. The family will have a family prayer 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the family home.

A traditional burial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2012 at Sandhill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
